PIPER

Program for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research

The Program for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research, PIPER, is a faculty-wide program that coordinates interprofessional educational experiences for Faculty of Health Sciences professional program students: Rehab Science (OT/PT), Nursing, Midwifery, Physician Assistant, Child Life and Medicine. Social Work students in McMaster's School of Social Work are also eligible to attend PIPER events

PIPER works closely with the McMaster Interprofessional Student Collaborative in engaging students at the ground level in organizing events, assuming student leadership positions, and fostering an ethos of collaboration in the health care environment.

PIPER hosts an annual half-day large group session in early winter, IPE Day, where over 700 students from all 7 health professional programs are brought together in one space for shared interprofessional learning.

PIPER encourages and supports the development of IPE learning experiences. More information on How to Create an IPE Event can be found on our website.

PIPER holds a grant competition every few years for faculty intrested in developing IPE experiences. For information on past projects, visit the PIPER website.
